Join to apply for the Aerospace Engineer role at Actalent Actalent is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to support a hypersonic space vehicle program out of the NRL. This role involves research and development with a team of scientists, engineers, and PhDs. The engineer will help lead some team processes and support R&D for flexible skins that resist high temperatures at hypersonic speeds. Responsibilities include: Design, analysis, testing, and integration of hypersonic systems such as glide vehicles, boosters, guidance/navigation, and thermal protection systems. Systems engineering activities like requirements definition, risk management, interface control, and verification/validation. Reviewing technical proposals, designs, and test plans for compliance with standards. Leading test flight planning, execution, and data analysis. Contributing to technology maturation, modeling, simulation, and digital engineering initiatives. Preparing technical reports and documentation for stakeholders. Mentoring junior engineers and providing SME input across disciplines. Required skills and qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in hypersonic or missile systems. Active Secret Clearance, with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI. Broad understanding of high-speed aerodynamics, thermal management, and materials for extreme environments. Familiarity with DOD acquisition, testing protocols, and system development lifecycle. Preferred qualifications: Master's or PhD in related field. 5+ years in hypersonics. Experience with digital engineering tools like MBSE, Ansys, Matlab, or CFD. The position is expert level with a pay range of $140,000 - $150,000 annually. It is a full-time, hybrid role based in Washington, DC, with an application deadline of August 18, 2025.
