Job Title: Assistant Scientist

Location: Summit - West, New Jersey

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, Standard Business Hours

Work Setting: 100% Onsite

Experience Level: 1–4 Years

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Scientist to support the development of mammalian cell lines used in the production of monoclonal and bispecific antibodies, fusion proteins, and other recombinant proteins. This position will be heavily focused on flow cytometry, cell imaging, and collaboration across multiple departments including molecular biology, upstream process development, and analytical teams. The role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional passionate about biologics and lab-based innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mammalian cell culture using aseptic techniques.
  • Perform flow cytometry, cell staining, and fluorescent microscopy imaging.
  • Support ongoing R&D and innovation projects.
  • Carry out data analysis and assist in data interpretation.
  • Maintain research notebooks and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Participate in lab operations and safety compliance procedures.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to optimize cell line development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with upstream, downstream, and analytics teams.
  • Contribute to technical reports and internal presentations.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field.

Experience: 0–4 years in a laboratory setting; pharmaceutical/biotech industry preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on experience in aseptic mammalian cell culture .
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy .
  • Understanding of general lab safety, SOPs, and daily lab functions.

Soft Skills: Excellent written/verbal communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
