Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cargo Manager to oversee all aspects of our cargo operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and cargo management, focusing on efficiency and customer satisfaction. The Cargo Manager will manage cargo handling, scheduling, loading, unloading, tracking shipments, and supervising staff. This position will report to the Director of Cargo and Passenger Services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of cargo operations, including scheduling, loading, unloading, and tracking shipments.

  • Supervise cargo handling staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Maintain high levels of customer service and resolve any customer issues or complaints.

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

  • Prepare reports and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.

  • Oversee daily cargo handling operations.

  • Ensure customer performance metrics are met or exceeded.

  • Update and maintain all cargo-related documentation.

  • Develop cargo agent schedules to ensure coverages for all flights.

  • Interact with TSA Security Inspectors as required.

  • Monitor and ensure completion of training records for new personnel.

  • Ensure accurate data entry for all shipments.

  • Notify consignees, passengers, or customers of freight arrival and arrange for delivery.

  • Advise clients on transportation and payment methods.

  • Prepare manifests and transmit data to destinations.

  • Understand and comply with hazardous material handling and shipping requirements.

  • Retrieve stored items and trace lost shipments as necessary.

  • Manage files and records for each airline or customer.

  • Understand U.S. Mail procedures for picking up and delivery.

  • Reconcile monthly billing for each cargo customer.

  • Understand international air bills and breakdown by customer and client.

  • Promote a safe and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cargo management.

  • Strong knowledge of logistics and cargo handling operations.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cargo management software.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 200 pounds with help and frequently lift up to 100 pounds.

  • Regular use of hands, talking, hearing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.

  • Frequent standing and walking, occasional climbing, sitting, and balancing.

  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license.

  • US. citizenship or proof of right to work in the U.S.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, varying schedules, and extended hours.

  • Background check, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history, and pre-employment drug test.
