Dreamscape Learn, a pioneer in the realm of immersive virtual reality learning design, is actively seeking a Character Modeler to bring our virtual worlds to life by crafting high-quality, visually stunning characters that enhance the immersive experience. As a Character Modeler , you will be responsible for designing and creating high-quality 3D characters optimized for VR, ensuring they are engaging, expressive, and aligned with the artistic vision of our platform. You will collaborate closely with animators, concept artists, designers, and developers to craft realistic and stylized characters that enhance both gaming and educational experiences in a virtual world.

This is a 1099 contract role.

Role and Responsibilities

• 3D Character Creation : Model and texture high-quality, optimized characters for real-time VR applications, ensuring top-tier visual fidelity and performance.
• Sculpting & Texturing : Create highly detailed character sculpts in ZBrush, Blender, or Maya and apply realistic/stylized textures using Substance Painter, Photoshop, or similar tools.
• Topology & Optimization : Ensure models are VR-friendly , optimizing topology, UV mapping, and textures for performance efficiency without compromising quality.
• Rigging & Animation-Readiness : Work closely with the animation team to ensure characters are rigging and animation-ready , adhering to best practices for movement and deformation.
• Collaboration : Work closely with concept artists, game designers, and developers to bring character designs to life in immersive learning experiences.
• Technical Integration : Support the implementation of characters in Unreal Engine / Unity , ensuring they work seamlessly within the VR environment.
• Iteration & Feedback : Continuously refine and improve character models based on user feedback, technical constraints, and creative direction.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in character modeling for games, animation, or VR applications.
• Strong proficiency in Maya, Blender, ZBrush, and Substance Painter or equivalent 3D modeling and texturing tools.
• Deep understanding of human and creature anatomy, topology, and animation-friendly modeling techniques.
• Experience working with Unity and knowledge of asset optimization for VR.
• Strong grasp of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows and texturing techniques.
• Ability to interpret concept art and translate it into detailed, production-ready 3D characters.
• Passion for education, gaming, and immersive VR technologies .
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work within a fast-paced, creative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with character rigging and deformation techniques is a plus.

Benefits

Monthly rate: $6,000-$8,000 (DOE)
