Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant provides patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based care across the continuum using a team based approach to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. Under the supervision of the physician, advanced practice clinicians, RN, or nurse leader, performs patient-centered care. Through collaborative practice with members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care provided by ThedaCare. Contributes to the goals of the clinic by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate, safe care and demonstrated commitment to continuous growth and professional development. Schedule: Variable Monday - Friday 7:00am-5:30pm, No Holidays, 4 Saturdays a year. Key accountabilities include receiving and executing orders from supervising physician or clinician, rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs and health information, assisting in patient care and education, supporting documentation in electronic health records, assisting with tests and procedures, discharging patients, and participating in patient panel management. Qualifications include High School diploma or GED preferred, medical assistant program graduate preferred, one year experience as CNA or Patient Care Technician preferred, valid certification or registration through recognized medical assistant organizations or a valid State of Wisconsin Licensed Practical Nurse license, and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS). Physical demands include ability to move freely and lift up to 50 pounds, exposure to blood borne pathogens, and manual dexterity. Work environment includes exposure to sharp objects, chemicals, noise, and possible contact with aggressive patients. Scheduled weekly hours: 26, Scheduled FTE: 0.65, Overtime exempt: No.
