Job Description

Position Title: Electrical Designer

Location: Chattanooga, TN

Duration: 3-4 Year Contract

Compensation: $33-$35/Hour

Insight Global is seeking Electrical Designers for one of its clients located in Chattanooga, TN. These professionals will be responsible for designing electrical and communication system facilities to meet customer needs, including creating designs for new customers and improving and maintaining the company's infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and modify electrical facilities, both overhead and underground, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, company standards, methods, policies, and customer requirements.
  • Communicate with customers through site visits, phone calls, and emails.
  • Collect customer data or data from their representatives to estimate electric usage and revenue, fault current for equipment, electric account deposit, construction growth credit, create sales orders, obtain customer approval/signature, and track cost and revenue estimates in line with company service policies.
  • Initiate work orders for the construction department by performing cost estimates in the Work Management System and creating job sketches in the company Graphical Facilities System.
  • Update the Customer Information System with relevant electric account data.
  • Manage time and schedule to optimize customer service and individual productivity.
  • Assist during system emergencies, such as storm restoration, by scouting incidents, providing field information to dispatch personnel, and overseeing contractor field crews repairing damaged electrical infrastructure.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of power distribution design.
  • Proficiency in standard business software like Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience utilizing CAD software.

Certifications & Other Requirements

  • Maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsible vehicle operation. Must operate motor vehicles during normal working hours to perform various tasks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to share ideas and collaborate with internal and external engineers and customers.
