General Cleaner – Macy's Northpark Center (Dallas) PRIMARY PURPOSE: To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them clean, sanitary, and orderly, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment. Essential Responsibilities High Dusting: Use a treated high duster to clean in a counter‑clockwise direction around rooms, targeting high dust surfaces (lights, doors, vents, ledges). Sanitizing/Spot Cleaning: Apply a germicidal solution in counter‑clockwise order to surfaces below shoulder height; clean windows, doors, and other fixtures. Bathroom Cleaning: Wipe sink, toilet, and toilet bowl with germicidal solution; inspect and refill soap and paper dispensers. Trash Management: Remove liners from trash cans, wipe surfaces, and replace liners. Floor Dusting/Vacuuming: Use treated dust mophead or vacuum; start at back of room, work toward door, and clean under furniture. Grounds Care: Perform outside area cleaning, maintain sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, and parking lot; spot‑clean spills. Public Common Areas: Mop hallways and spot‑clean glass; maintain planters and window areas; perform high dusting twice weekly. Food Court: Clean tables, sanitize, remove trash, and maintain dining areas. Floor Sanitizing: Mop and sanitize floors at back of room, moving backward; review steps after completion. Customer Relations: Greet customers, answer questions, report broken items, maintain quiet work environment, and uphold personal appearance. Other Duties: Perform assigned tasks, including floor care (stripping, waxing), carpet extraction, and floor buffing, as directed. Qualifications Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, equipment, safe work practices, and chemical use per MSDS. Ability to follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively with co‑workers and supervisors. Physical stamina: standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods; lifting 1–30 lbs; push/pull, and operate equipment.
