Robert Mondavi Winery is seeking Harvest Cellar Workers who want to participate in hands on learning in the wine industry. This is a temporary position that runs Aug – Nov. You will work side by side with cellar staff in grape and wine processing and finishing operations. You will assist in crushing, fermentation, blending, barrel aging, finishing and storage of all products produced at the winery. Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing equipment, applying general housekeeping practices, carrying out reductive handling/Non-Oxidative techniques, shoveling tanks, measuring and calculating routine workplace data, product transfer operations, operating the red fermenter pump over or punch down equipment, bulk wine shipping and receiving operations, preparing and making additions/finings and SO2 adds, assisting with operating chilling and warming equipment, performing fermentation support operations, applying correct wine sampling techniques and assisting with tracking and wine quality, carrying out inert gas handling in transfer processes, possibly assisting with operating the crush equipment, working with lab personnel to test samples and track daily routine analysis on wines and juices, following safe operating procedures, and supporting safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety. Minimum qualifications include some production experience in cellar, operations, processing or related preferred but not required, ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and good communication skills. Physical requirements include working outdoors/indoors, in warm/cold climates, in high places, on wet surfaces, exposure to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals, working near moving mechanical parts and lift truck traffic, ability to move up to 55 lbs, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, possibility of weekend work, late shifts, and/or long hours, and ability to sit and/or stand for long periods and work on a computer for extended periods.
