Summary You will serve as a Insulator in the Production Division in the Public Works Department Great Lakes of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. WG-05 $24.88 - $29.01per hour. WG-08 $30.00 - $35.01 per hour. Responsibilities You will operate equipment for removal of asbestos insulation You will use personal protective equipment (PPE), protective safety devices, safety shoes, or special protective clothing as required. You will encapsulate, remove, or dispose of materials considered to be hazardous (e.g., asbestos, fiberglass). You will identify the dimensional characteristics of surface slopes, angles, bends, and curves to be covered. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The Screen-out Element for the WG-08 level is: 1) Assisting journeyman level Insulators with fabricating and installing insulation on such items and systems as air ducts, heaters, generators, pumps, evaporators, refrigeration units, boilers, and a variety of other large, conventional, or one-of-a-kind enclosures that have straight and curved surfaces, and irregular curves and planes. 2) Assisting journeyman level Insulators assembling and forming bulk insulation to cover irregular shapes for valve, fitting, flanges, and similar parts. 3) Preparing removable or replaceable section of insulation for valves and similar fitting. 4) Assisting with measuring connections, making of paper patterns, cutting insulating material, and sewing parts together. 5) Developing the knowledge to identify all types of asbestos removal procedures such as glove bags, rip-out and encapsulation.6) Developing skills in using tools such as tapes, rulers and squares accurately. 7) Demonstrating competencies in reading and working from drawings, sketches, and oral instructions. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. The Screen-out Element for the WG-05 level is: Ability to do the work of a WG-3610-08 Insulator without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by the following tasks: 1) Assisting journeyman level Insulators with fabricating and installing insulation on such items and systems as air ducts, heaters, generators, pumps, evaporators, refrigeration units, boilers, and a variety of other large, conventional, or one-of-a-kind enclosures that have straight and curved surfaces, and irregular curves and planes. 2) Assisting journeyman level Insulators assembling and forming bulk insulation to cover irregular shapes for valve, fitting, flanges, and similar parts. 3) Preparing removable or replaceable section of insulation for valves and similar fitting. 4) Assisting with measuring connections, making of paper patterns, cutting insulating material, and sewing parts together. 5) Developing the knowledge to identify all types of asbestos removal procedures such as glove bags, rip-out and encapsulation.
