Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) - Chemistry

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Chemistry at Lehman College, City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking applications for a full-time, CCE (Certificate of Continuous Employment) track doctoral lecturer position. Primary responsibilities associated with the position include teaching a variety of Introductory Chemistry as well as Organic Chemistry courses for majors and service courses using novel evidence-based educational techniques to support students’ active learning and technical competency as well as aiding student development of cognitive skills to become self-learners. Additional responsibilities include: 1) serving as student advisor 2) leading an effort to change laboratory instructions in general chemistry and organic chemistry courses to inquiry-based experiments that are effectively linked to lecture concepts, 3) being actively involved in the department’s assessment efforts, 4) assisting with curriculum development, program certification and other contributions to the chemistry program as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry with a strong background in organic chemistry and in chemical education. Previous experience of teaching at undergraduate level, familiarity with online/hybrid course delivery systems, experience in course coordination, and expertise in use of education technology are preferred. While rigorous training in Organic chemistry is desired, we are also looking for an individual who has a passion for ensuring evidence-based student learning and enjoys guiding students to succeed in achieving their academic and career goals. Our department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching and service to the diversity of the academic community and to creating a welcoming climate for students of all races, genders, and nationalities. COMPENSATION

$88,998.00
