GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED BY SAO'S LEGAL INTERN:
  • Gain exposure to the Texas legislative process, Texas state agencies, and Texas state government.
  • Analyze bills and summarize key legislative changes from the 89th Texas Legislative Session that impact agency operations and policies.
  • Draft memoranda and reports to communicate the implications of new legislation to agency leadership and relevant departments.
  • Assist in the revision and updating of agency policies to reflect statutory changes.
  • Research legal precedents, guidelines, or best practices relevant to legislative updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and departments.
  • Assist in preparing training materials or presentations for agency staff on updated laws and policies.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Experience and Education
Currently enrolled in an accredited law school.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Interest in public sector law and legislative analysis.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Previous experience in policy analysis or a government setting is a plus but not required.
