Job Summary

This position plays a vital role in performing laboratory procedures and evaluations that assist physicians in diagnosis and ensure quality patient care. Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Conduct Laboratory Testing: Perform accurate routine and specialized laboratory tests following established procedures, including those requiring complex steps and evaluations.
• Quality Control: Ensure high-quality laboratory service by performing quality control on instruments, equipment, and reagents, while adhering to all regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate Test Results: Assess abnormal test results and troubleshoot instrument issues to guarantee the validity of reported outcomes in line with departmental and regulatory guidelines.
• Data Entry: Accurately and promptly enter test results into the laboratory computer system to meet expected turnaround times.
• Proficiency Testing: Conduct proficiency testing on both external and internal specimens to maintain compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Professional Interaction: Interface professionally with physicians, hospital departments, and other professionals regarding test results and analyses.
• Technology Evaluation: Assist the department supervisor in evaluating new instrumentation and procedures to keep our technology state-of-the-art.
• Training & Orientation: Help implement training and orientation programs for new associates while ensuring your own competencies through participation in educational in-services and monthly proficiency testing.
• Inventory Management: Monitor equipment and supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels for continuous operation.
• Specimen Collection: Collect and label blood specimens in compliance with departmental needs and expectations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to support the team and department.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology required, or a Bachelor’s degree with ASCP or AMT certification for Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (or eligible).
• Certification: NCA certification required or eligible.
• Experience: One to two years of relevant experience preferred.
