Museum Exhibit Designer (3D/Dimensional Design)

Unrivaled is looking for a Museum Exhibit Designer with expertise in 3D modeling and physical structure design. If your background is in architecture, industrial design, environmental design, or exhibit design, and you enjoy creating physical spaces for museums, visitor centers, and immersive experiences, this might be the perfect fit.

 

What This Role Is About

This is a dimensional design role focused on the creation of physical spaces, structures, and immersive museum exhibits. You will work within a 3D modeling and fabrication-driven workflow, collaborating with designers, engineers, and fabricators to transform conceptual ideas into real-world experiences. Your work will shape interactive exhibits, visitor centers, and educational environments. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

• 3D Modeling & Concept Development – Develop exhibit designs, spatial layouts, and immersive environments using 3ds Max, Sketchup, Revit, or similar 3D modeling software.

• Material & Fabrication Planning – Work closely with fabricators and engineers to ensure designs are buildable, selecting materials and construction methods that align with budget and production constraints.

• Exhibit & Environmental Design – Design museum exhibits, visitor experiences, and large-scale interpretive installations that blend storytelling with functional space.

• Collaboration – Work alongside project managers, writers, engineers, and digital designers to create engaging, interactive environments that enhance visitor engagement.

• Technical Drawings & Documentation – Produce design intent drawings, material specifications, and fabrication-ready documentation.

 

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Requirements (Read Before Applying):

• 3+ years of professional experience in museum exhibit design, industrial design, environmental design, or architecture.

• Expertise in 3D modeling software (3ds Max, Blender, SketchUp, Revit, or similar).

• Understanding of fabrication methods—must be able to design buildable structures.

• Experience designing physical spaces, structures, or interactive exhibits.

• Ability to collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and project managers to ensure designs translate seamlessly into real-world installations.

• Strong visual storytelling, spatial planning, and conceptual thinking.

 

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):

• Experience working with museums, cultural institutions, or educational spaces.

• Familiarity with ADA guidelines, visitor flow, and accessibility in exhibit design.

• Experience integrating lighting, AV, or interactive elements into exhibit designs.

• Knowledge of CNC routing, laser cutting, or other fabrication processes.
