The next leader of the United Way of Tucson & Southern Arizona (UWTSA) will be a community influencer and become part of a diverse, vibrant and progressive community that values philanthropy and social justice. The successful candidate will further improve and transform the communities of Southern Arizona by increasing assets, strengthening existing partnerships, creating new alliances and expanding grantmaking and community investment to meet critical needs. Founded over 100 years ago, UWTSA is viewed as a leading philanthropic institution in the region, serving as a hub for community change.
The organization is excited to begin their next chapter with new leadership and re-introduce the United Way to the community. Following wonderful success over the past 15 years, they see this leadership transition as an opportunity for a new perspective and approach in addressing collective impact in the community. With the ever-evolving issues at the federal level regarding the immigrant population, investments in housing and engaging with local Native American and Hispanic populations, there are deep systemic issues the next President & CEO will have the opportunity to address.
The President & CEO leads the growth, development and sustainability of the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona and the United Way Capital Corporation through the development of people, programs and the management of resources. The responsibility of the position is to achieve the purpose of the organization as reflected in the mission and vision statements adopted by the Board.
The President & CEO works in partnership with the Board of Directors and staff to provide leadership, vision and direction for the organization and develops organizational strategy. The Chief Executive leads Board approved policies, represents the organization in the community and manages the organization’s programs and operations, with approximately $15 million in revenue, a $2.7 million operating budget and 60+ full time staff.
United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona (UWTSA) seeks a leader who will bring people close to its mission and inspire others to help create a thriving Southern Arizona for all.
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management or a closely related field and a minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization. Nonprofit management is preferred, with at least three years’ experience at an executive staff level. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
The salary range for this position is between $300,000 and $325,000 and will be commensurate with experience. UWTSA offers a generous benefits packet with employer contributions for full time employees including medical, dental, 401K, HRA, PTO, 12 paid holidays and opportunities for educational and professional development.
