Job Summary Under the general direction of the Operations Manager for the Information Technology Department (IT), provides all levels of IT related support to law enforcement agencies that are members of the Records Management System (RMS) consortium. Acts as the primary liaison between Calhoun County, law enforcement, and vendors related to the RMS system.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities - Provides hardware and software support to multiple law enforcement agencies that are members of the RMS consortium. Must maintain a comprehensive understanding of the applications used by law enforcement agencies.
- Researches, examines, develops, and evaluates programs and systems to implement or improve processes and requirements. Researches and presents options to improve efficiencies in completing activities.
- Leads root cause analysis activities to successfully identify problems and develop solutions.
- Performs component repair or replacement of customer serviceable hardware items.
- Troubleshoots Audio/Video issues and provide solutions, including but not limited to, officer-worn body cameras and in-car video systems.
- Develops, recommends, and implements new or improved methods for efficient management and protection of information technology resources.
- Perform routine SQL tasks including query development, data validation, report generation, and troubleshooting database-related issues.
- Assist in the administration of public safety application servers, including patching, basic Windows Server configuration, IIS adjustments, and uptime monitoring.
- Maintains up-to-date documentation for a variety of law enforcement applications and develops and maintains standards and procedures.
- Assists with IT-related purchases as necessary and maintains a tracking system for software or equipment that is distributed/utilized.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the County, vendors, and law enforcement agencies related to the RMS system.
- Provides business analysis for criminal justice agencies and facilitate cross function reviews between all RMS agencies in Calhoun County.
- Provides training as needed in relevant application operations.

Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position
- Minimum 3 years of experience installing and supporting PC hardware and desktop software required
- A thorough understanding of information technology issues required. A comprehensive understanding of the inter-workings of law enforcement operations and interactions is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary to provide courteous and accurate support
- Experience with the following preferred: management and reporting of data, report writing, general SQL functions, fundamentals of Windows operating systems, basic PC and peripherals hardware, desktop applications, such as MS Office
- Ability to frequently multi-task and handle simultaneous projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with occasional distractions due to people and/or telephone calls
- The ability to utilize proper discretion when handling sensitive issues and/or confidential information
- Physical ability to occasionally lift, carry, and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting to be eligible for hire
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies

Normal office environment with little, if any, discomfort due to heat or cold. Occasional travel between Calhoun County locations is required. Periodic intermittent or cyclical work pressures are frequently experienced. Extended workdays (beyond eight hours/day and weekends) are occasionally required. Must also participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
