Detail-oriented Rights and Licensing Manager wanted to oversee music, video, illustration, and IP usage across all divisions. Sumerian is looking for an experienced and organized Rights & Licensing Manager to manage all clearances, usage rights, and licensing deals across our creative Entertainment Group. You’ll be responsible for overseeing synch licensing, clip usage, publishing rights, music masters, comic art, film footage, and all other proprietary assets. This includes tracking internal use, processing incoming and outgoing licensing requests, negotiating terms, and ensuring that every asset is cleared, monetized, and protected under the appropriate legal framework. This is a key legal-operations role requiring cross-functional collaboration with legal, creative, production, and external partners. A deep understanding of music publishing, IP management, and entertainment licensing is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage rights and clearances across all Sumerian divisions and properties.
  • Handle incoming/outgoing licensing requests, including synch, clip, and publishing deals.
  • Track ownership, usage rights, and revenue splits for music, video, illustrations, and more.
  • Negotiate licensing terms and maintain up-to-date licensing records and agreements.
  • Collaborate with legal, creative, and production teams to ensure proper clearance of all content.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in multi media entertainment licensing.
  • Deep knowledge of copyright, master rights, publishing rights, and synchronization licensing.
  • Strong negotiation and contract review skills.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with managing rights across multiple media formats (music, video, illustration, film).
  • Must reside in the area of Nashville Tennessee.
