Join us as a Senior Accountant, where youll ensure accurate financial records, provide essential accounting support, and help advance our mission of affordable homeownership.
Your Impact Financial Management and Close
- Oversee all aspects of financial close and consolidation, including general ledger review, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and entity consolidation, ensuring conformance with GAAP.
- Maintain the general ledger, trial balance, and consolidated organizational records.
- Review sub-ledger transaction processing and closing functions, including activity for cash, receivables, payables, fixed assets, construction-in-process (CIP), leases, loans, and restricted net assets.
- Perform and maintain bank reconciliations for all accounts and monitor daily cash activity for accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as the internal resource for nonprofit and construction-specific accounting standards.
Program, Construction, and Grant Accounting
- Manage accounting data entry and reconciliation for program areas including home construction, repairs, sales/resales, and retail operations.
- Monitor and record construction-in-progress in collaboration with Operations, including job budgets, expenditures, and funder compliance.
- Coordinate the tracking of project budgets with the Grants Manager and ensure proper recording of revenue restrictions in partnership with Resource Development.
ERP and Financial Systems Oversight
- Administer the organizations ERP system: manage master data, maintain the chart of accounts and mapping for financial statement presentation and Form 990 reporting, oversee period rollovers, and review access in coordination with IT.
- Maintain IT general controls (ITGC), segregation of duties (SOD), and information access lists to ensure compliance and system integrity.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Coordinate annual budget loading into financial systems and support forecasting efforts alongside the FP&A team.
- Align programmatic and construction-related financials with grant and funding requirements.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements (activities, position, cash flow, functional expenses) and internal departmental finance reports.
- Prepare recurring financial schedules including long-term debt, mortgage loans receivable, and CIP by project.
- Support the preparation of audit and compliance deliverables including GAAP audit schedules, Form 990 documentation, SEFA, and draft memos for new accounting standards.
- Maintain internal controls documentation, tax compliance filings, and the organizations finance policies and procedures manual.
Continuous Improvement and Support
- Maintain accounting process maps, understand journal data flows, and support system and process improvements in collaboration with the Accounting Manager, FP&A Manager, and Director of IT.
- Regularly evaluate finance operations for automation, efficiency gains, and enhanced reporting accuracy.
- Respond to ad hoc financial data requests from funders, capital partners, and financial institutions
What You Bring - Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Related education and experience may be substituted.
- Minimum 3 years accounting and/or finance experience.
- Experience with retail, construction, non-profit organizations, or non-profit accounting, a plus
- Energetic, self-motivated team player, able to see the big picture and maintain attention to detail.
- Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize workload while delivering projects under tight deadlines..
- Able to communicate effectively and efficiently through verbal and/or written means.
- Maintains and regards all department information as highly confidential.
- Flexibility, sense of humor, grace under pressure a must.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP highly desirable.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to evolving priorities.
