Job Description
The senior system administrator is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing server and domain infrastructure systems that meet their organizations' needs. Once deployed, these professionals monitor the systems/services and perform sustainment and monitoring tasks to assess future needs. Their typical job responsibilities include:
· Have and maintain systems certifications related to server operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate)
· Have and maintain security certifications; CompTia Security+ for Intermediate and CASP+ for Advanced
· Planning and designing server and domain infrastructures while ensuring the interoperability of computing systems within the network
· Presenting system/service integration and upgrade plans to management and technical leadership staff
· Managing information and server security and compliance requirements
· Implementing upgrades to hardware and software as needed
· Performing maintenance and repairs to server equipment and associated configured services
· Keeping documentation of server systems and appliances, including drawings, descriptions, and configurations
· Researching systems, architectures, and technologies following industry best practices and staying up to date on advancements in the field
· Managing, maintaining, and configuring domain services related to, but not limited to: DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies
· Demonstrate proficiency in virtualization technologies and platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix), including the planning, deployment, and management of virtualized environments.
· Experience with the following technologies preferred
o Nutanix – Virtualization and Storage
o Rubrik – Backup Solution
o InfoBlox – DNS and DHCP appliance
o LogRhythm – Security and Event Log Manager
o Tanium – System Patching
o SCCM/MCM/Intune – System image deployment/management
· Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and integrate multiple systems/technologies within complex infrastructures
Certification Requirements: Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Security+/CASP+
