Position Summary

The Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) will be the on-site champion for safety , ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and project-specific regulations. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, productive environment for our employees, subcontractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) .
  • Conduct daily safety inspections , toolbox talks, and weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926/1910 , EM 385-1-1 , and VA safety protocols.
  • Investigate incidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Review subcontractor safety plans and monitor adherence.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, logs, and reports using platforms like Procore .
  • Coordinate with government inspectors during audits.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in federal construction safety (VA, USACE, NAVFAC projects preferred).
  • Certifications:
    • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety (OSHA 500/502 preferred)
    • First Aid/CPR
    • EM 385-1-1 training highly desirable
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety , Construction Management , or related field (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of federal safety regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
