Job Description

Job Title: Sr. Cyber Security Engineer

Location: Onsite at Tulsa, OK

Employment Type: 6+ months Contract

Job Overview:

The Sr. Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining solutions to protect computer systems, information, and networks from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction. This role requires deep technical expertise across multiple IT disciplines, including cyber security, networking, systems, and application development. Candidates must excel in fast-paced, high-stress environments and possess strong teamwork and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Implementation (75%)

  • Lead, plan, design, and implement cybersecurity solutions within both waterfall and agile projects.
  • Automate provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance processes to reduce operational overhead.
  • Evaluate requirements and consult with stakeholders to recommend cost-effective, standards-compliant solutions.
  • Provide comprehensive documentation for operational transition and end-user training.
  • Perform administrative duties in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Operational Support & Team Leadership (20%)

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex security issues and risks.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for high-level technical support to Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC).
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Cyber Security Engineering team and CSOC.
  • Collaborate with vendors, partners, and internal teams to ensure effective issue resolution.

Research & Standards (5%)

  • Stay up-to-date with evolving cybersecurity best practices and technologies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to develop hardening guidelines and cybersecurity standards.
  • Evaluate system/network security configurations and recommend improvements.

Required Education:

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security or a related technology field.
  • Multiple industry certifications in cybersecurity, systems administration, and/or networking.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing and administering cybersecurity in large, complex, multi-region environments.
  • Proficiency in cryptography, endpoint protection, forensics, incident response, and network defense.
  • Experience with compliance standards such as HIPAA , PCI , and SOX .
  • Solid understanding of data center technologies, disaster recovery, and infrastructure design.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across diverse IT systems.

Preferred Experience:

  • Broad experience across all cybersecurity domains with a focus on building scalable, secure environments.
  • Experience developing and executing a technical backlog for continuous improvement.

Required Skills:

Expertise in:

  • Next-gen firewalls, IDS/IPS
  • Network access control
  • Digital forensics & endpoint detection/response
  • Data protection, credential vaulting, certificate management
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), SIEM, access brokering
  • Public cloud compliance & cybersecurity automation/orchestration
  • Strong project planning and execution tracking capabilities.
  • Effective communicator with both business and IT stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

Hands-on experience with:

  • Active Directory, Microsoft and/or Linux OS
  • Identity and access management (IAM)
  • Wireless security, penetration testing
  • Incident response frameworks
  • Application security methodologies
  • Understanding of encryption systems.
  • Experience in scripting or software development.

Additional Requirements:

  • On-call availability 24/7.
  • Ability to work under pressure and guide peers during crisis situations.
  • Rapid context-switching across technical domains.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Must maintain phone/email/calendar accessibility when offsite.
