Primary Objective & Scope of Position:
Drive overall daily productivity and continuos improvement work of the distribution center team, ensuring the completion of operations in an efficient, effective and positive manner.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities: Management - Supervise daily actitvity of all employees in the distribtuion center relevant to material handling by insuring other departmental warehouse employees are performing their assigned duties accurately, efficiently and safely.
- Explores and facilitates new ways to improve our Distribution Center to make it a better place to work. Strives to exceed our employee and customer's expectations.
- Oversees and executes activity related to the loading, unloading and receiving product into the distribution center.
- Loading merchandise onto trucks so as to insure safety to merchandise, maximum efficiency in use of space and accuracy of merchandise shipped.
- Ensuring that shipped manifest accurately reflects the merchandise that is on the truck--Making computer changes to reflect any inventory movement or changes in the process of loading
- Performs position responsibilities satisfactorily with minimal supervision so as to maximize efficiency of all department members to achieve the mission of the company and the department.
- Maintains a neat and orderly workplace to work efficiently and provide an atmosphere of organization and professionalism that will meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Manage / maintain all power equipment including fleet / shag truck
- Performs the "add-on" procedure accurately and efficiently
- Maintains contact with semi drivers in regards to outbound/inbound schedule to ensure effecenty opertional warehouse activity.
People Development - Participates in and oversees training and development of new and existing employees, specifically in the area of merchandise staging and loading and unloading, in order to provide meaningful work experiences for employees and efficient completion of jobs for the department.
- Daily implementation of the Corporate Mission Statement and Core Value
- Participate in the hiring process through conducting interviews and job offers.
- Formulates and delivers written performance appraisals for assigned personnel and co-facilitates performance reviews
- Administers disciplinary actions in accordance with established guidelines. Enforces corporate or departmental policies or procedures in a manner consistent with established guides
- Assist Distribution Center Manager with resolving employee issues in a timely manner consistent with company's mission, philosophy and policies.
- Assist in analyzing staffing goals and scheduling for the distribution center.
Communication and Leadership - Handles customers, stores, fellow employees and other related business contacts in a friendly and businesslike manner
- Communicate and partner with proper Slumberland departments when the need arises.
Safety - Adheres to safety policies and practices and consistently models safe behaviors and risk reduction procedures
- Makes sure safety rules and guidelines are followed by entire staff.
Non-Essential Functions Retain a safe and insurable driving record in order to drive for company business.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field,10+ years of warehouse management or logistics background; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
- Ability to analyze data and reports and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the distribution center.
- Effective decision make and problem solving skills / well organized and detail oriented.
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrates mechanical skills and ability, intermediate computer aptitude, and general clerical skills
- Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to always maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor
- Forklift certification or ability to be forklift certified
- Demonstrates the ability to safely lift/push/pull 75 lbs. or more on a daily basis and occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 lbs. Regular lifting over shoulder height approximately 25% of the time in typical work day.
- Extensive walking on concrete floor while moving merchandise.
- Ability to safely operate stock picker to heights of 27.5 ft. high off the ground.
