Job Description

We are seeking a skilled System Administrator to manage and maintain server operations, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our IT infrastructure. This role involves overseeing hardware, operating systems, patch management, troubleshooting, and supporting application deployments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in system administration, server management, and technical troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Server Operations & Maintenance:

  • Manage server hardware, operating systems, and utilities to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform configuration, patch management, version upgrades, and overall availability management of servers (excluding COTS/GOTS applications).
  • Monitor and maintain system logs, application logs, and performance metrics to prevent and resolve issues proactively.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Act as Tier 2 support , resolving escalated issues beyond the scope of on-site Tier 1 staff.
  • Modify registries, system configurations, and access settings to support application releases and troubleshoot issues.
  • Conduct technical analysis and troubleshooting to optimize server performance and availability.

Security & Compliance:

  • Manage system account password resets and user maintenance.
  • Support cleanup of data spills involving classified or sensitive data.
  • Maintain security best practices, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Application & Database Support:

  • Deploy application code and manage database administration tasks.
  • Apply patches and updates to operating systems, databases, and applications.
  • Restart services, databases, and troubleshoot application configurations.
  • Rebuild and maintain server clusters and search indexes .

Storage & File Management:

  • Manage file organization, drive redundancy, and data integrity across servers.
  • Reorganize files, delete corrupt user preferences, and perform cleanup tasks after abnormal process terminations.

Middleware & Infrastructure Support:

  • Provide middleware support and troubleshoot system integrations.
  • Perform production support activities to ensure smooth operation of application interfaces.
  • Generate ad hoc reports covering system performance and infrastructure utilization.

User & Application Management:

  • Maintain application user accounts , including adding/deactivating users and managing permissions.
  • Modify drop-down list values and other application settings as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in system administration, server management, or a related IT role.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Strong expertise in Windows/Linux server environments , including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with patch management, version control, and IT security best practices .
  • Knowledge of databases, application deployment, and middleware support .
  • Familiarity with system logging, monitoring tools, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a high-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) .
  • Experience in virtualization, cloud computing, and disaster recovery planning .
