Work days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

Shift: 5 PM to 5:30 AM

Duration: 6+ months

Job description:

• The Tennessee School for the Blind is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff, and campus. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for our visually impaired students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and patrol the school premises, including buildings, grounds, and parking areas, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Provide assistance and direction to visitors, ensuring they follow school protocols.
• Maintain a visible presence to deter potential security threats.
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and medical emergencies.
• Report any suspicious activities or security breaches to the appropriate authorities.
• Conduct regular inspections of security systems, including surveillance cameras and alarm systems.
• Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in security or law enforcement is preferred.
• A valid armed/unarmed security license.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
• Physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Working Conditions:

• The position requires working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• May involve working some overtime and holidays.
