About the Role Philanthropy Roundtable has created a new role, Director of Grants and Development Communications, to lead efforts in generating strategic ideas for grant proposals, preparing grant submissions, and preparing development related communications for our many partners. The ideal candidate will be strategic in their writing and idea creation for what to submit in grants and communicate to donors, be a seasoned professional with management experience, and be skilled in Salesforce and relationship management to effectively navigate these relationships.

The Director reports to the Vice President of Development and is expected to work from the Roundtable's Washington, DC office at least 3 days a week. This cannot be a virtual position.

• Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and execute comprehensive grant submission plans including tracking of timelines, proposal writing, follow-up and reporting.
• Craft high quality, compelling letters of inquiry, proposals and reports and other communications to secure and sustained giving from current and new partners.
• Provide strategic input on grant proposal development, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
• Synthesize information and draft persuasive text about specific projects or programs when required for grant proposals and other development communications.
• Collaborate with the program leaders and executive leadership to gather necessary information to develop persuasive narratives for grant proposals including budgets.
• Work closely with the marketing and communications team to develop consistent messaging for proposals, donor communications, one-pagers, email campaigns and other development related materials.
• Research prospective foundations and identify grant opportunities with donors aligned with the Roundtable’s mission, principles and priorities.
• Track the status of submitted proposals and follow up with funders as needed.
• Utilize Salesforce to maintain accurate records of donor interactions, grants submissions and reporting processes.
• Manage, train, and mentor Development Operations Associate responsible for data and reporting management, and other staff as needed.
• Monitor metrics and outputs to prepare progress and final reports, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
• Organize and maintain all grant-related documentation within files and database.
• Build and nurture relationships with foundation donors and stakeholders when appropriate to grow their involvement with the Roundtable.
• Attend Roundtable events and participate in donor travel and meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of grant writing experience
• Experience working across teams to achieve organizational goals
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Versatility to be both a self-starter who takes initiative and a strong team member
• Strong attention to detail and highly organized
• High standard of honesty and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Endorses and is motivated by the guiding principles, mission, and vision of the Roundtable
• Experience with Salesforce is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Willingness to travel (an estimated 5-10% of time) for Roundtable events and donor meetings as needed

Salary Range $115,000 - $135,000 (contingent upon experience and qualifications)
