Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Heavy Haul Dispatcher to join our assets team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation of oversized and overweight loads, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with all regulations. This role requires excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a thorough understanding of transportation logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• Dispatch Operations: Coordinate the daily scheduling and dispatching of heavy haul trucks, ensuring efficient and timely transportation of loads.
• Route Planning: Develop and optimize transportation routes, considering factors such as load dimensions, weight, road restrictions, and permits.
• Load Coordination: Work closely with customers, drivers, and third-party carriers to schedule and manage the transportation of heavy haul loads.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including obtaining necessary permits and escorts for oversized loads.
• Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders to provide real-time updates and address any issues that arise during transport.
• Problem Solving: Quickly and effectively resolve any transportation-related issues, including delays, equipment breakdowns, and route changes.
• Documentation: Accurately maintain records of all dispatch activities, including load details, driver assignments, route plans, and regulatory compliance documentation.
• Safety: Promote and enforce safe transportation practices, ensuring all drivers adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
• Technology Utilization: Utilize dispatch software and other technological tools to manage and track shipments, driver locations, and delivery schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatching, preferably in heavy haul or specialized transportation.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of transportation logistics, routing, and regulatory requirements for oversized loads.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with drivers, customers, and regulatory agencies.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick decisions and manage unexpected situations.
• Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Technological Proficiency: Proficient in using dispatch software, GPS systems, and other transportation management tools.
• Licenses and Certifications: Any relevant certifications in transportation logistics or dispatching are a plus.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics or transportation management is preferred.

Working Conditions

• Environment: Office-based with occasional travel to customer sites or transportation hubs.
• Hours: Full-time position, with occasional need for overtime or on-call availability during peak periods.
