Position Overview
The Middle School years are essential for identity development: how one identifies with oneself as a student, artist, athlete, and community member. Breck recognizes the importance of students identifying with their natural surroundings as well and, as such, has started an Outdoor Education program in the Middle School. From geocaching to archery to partnering with local organizations, the opportunities are robust, and Breck is looking for the right person to help support the work. We are seeking someone to work collaboratively with the Lead Outdoor Educator to deliver a comprehensive outdoor program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspire a community of environmentally literate citizens who demonstrate stewardship and an authentic passion for learning about and enjoying the natural world.
Use outdoor skills and varied interests to lead and guide students through their outdoor learning experience.
Support the planning and organization of the OE program
Be committed to advancing equity, inclusion and belonging through the outdoor learning lens.
Uses Breck’s 50+ acres for instruction and curricular resources
Foster the discovery of individual differences, change, and growth as students work together through the outdoor educational experience.
Create an environment that promotes respect, rapport, and learning
Establish effective relationships with students
Use outdoor learning as a gateway to active thinking, problem-solving, and cooperative interactions. Broaden horizons and stimulate new interests in order for students to discover their potential.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience working with groups in the outdoors and in a range of weather conditions.
Experience engaging diverse audiences in hands-on education programs.
