Position Title: Principal Automation Engineer

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States (Fully Onsite) 97124

Position Type: Fulltime (Direct Hire)

Position Overview:

• As a Principal Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of life-saving medicines.
• Your expertise will drive the commissioning, qualification, and optimization of automation systems while supporting ongoing plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform automation work to complete the commissioning and qualification of new systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve operational performance.
• Monitor and troubleshoot running systems to ensure continued plant operations.
• Develop solutions and generate change records to address recurring automation and production equipment issues.
• Conduct investigations into issues that impact multiple Roche/Genentech sites.
• Mentor and support junior Automation Engineers in troubleshooting efforts.
• Assist in developing user requirements and design reviews for new equipment.
• Review and approve test documentation for both Automation and other functional teams.
• Provide feedback on areas for improvement regarding Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Serve as a member of the 24/7 Rotational On-Call Support Team.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of PLCs.
• Experience working with SCADA Systems, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and thin clients.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues and determine root causes.
• Experience integrating automation controls into various manufacturing processes.
• Strong track record of integrating electrical and mechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in environments utilizing change control and good documentation practices.
• Previous experience working with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
• Familiarity with Rockwell Automation technologies.
• Proven expertise in developing automation solutions.
• Experience with servo drives, robotics, vision systems, SCADA, mechatronics, and motion control.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and P&ID drawings.
