As the Senior HR Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's HR functions, with a specific focus on employee relations, compensation management, and conducting workplace investigations through your leadership of the HR Generalist team in NJ. You will partner closely with the broader HR team, senior leadership team, managers, and employees to ensure a fair and inclusive work environment which drives initiatives that enhance employee engagement and performance. This role is based in our Piscataway, NJ office (4 days onsite/1 day remote).

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Employee/Business Relations:

  • Act as a trusted advisor and business partner to employees and managers on HR-related issues, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Address and resolve employee concerns, disputes, and conflicts in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement programs and initiatives to enhance workplace morale and productivity.
  • Partner with management to ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws across the US and Canada.
  • Working with the entire HR team, review and modify all HR-related policies and procedures to ensure consistency, competitiveness and standardization as needed; ensure all practices are aligned and in compliance with both corporate policy and local regulations.
  • Work with leadership on business reorganizations and their impact on the employees, their positions, their compensation, etc.
  • Oversee our immigration work for employees.
  • Oversee the coordination of internship programs with line managers.

Investigations:

  • Lead and conduct internal investigations related to employee complaints, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or other workplace issues.
  • Ensure thorough and unbiased investigations, maintaining confidentiality and integrity throughout the process.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and recommend appropriate actions and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel as needed to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Compensation Management:

  • Lead the administration of the company's compensation programs, including salary reviews, promotions, etc.
  • Fully execute the performance management and related annual salary review processes, including contributing to proper system setup, scheduling/project plans, change management, communications, data consolidation and reporting, and follow up.
  • Research and propose salary recommendations for management approval; conduct regular market research to ensure our compensation packages remain competitive and aligned with industry standards.
  • Drive improved compensation practices within Humanscale; ensure all regional compensation initiatives and practices comply with all local labor laws.
  • Continuous review of all US and Canada wage and labor law changes; FLSA job review audits.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on compensation-related matters (e.g., promotions, reorganizations, etc.).
  • Create and review offer letters and PAFs; send team member updates to IT.
  • Update job descriptions.

Learning & Development:

  • Oversee all required compliance training for the Company.
  • Promote and assist with skills/leadership development training through our online platform (3rd party vendor) to elevate the capabilities of our employees.
  • Lead the development and delivery of our Manager Development Program.

HR Support and Projects:

  • Provide leadership to a team of HR Managers and an HR Assistant.
  • Provide general HR support and execution on such initiatives as onboarding, offboarding, performance management, HR policy enforcement, etc.
  • Identify and participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes and practices.
  • Keep abreast of HR trends, best practices, and legislative changes, applying this knowledge to enhance HR operations.
  • Manage all onboarding and offboarding of consultants, temporary workers and independent contractors.
  • Assist the HR Operations Team with issues when needed.
  • Oversee Workers Compensation reporting and claims; collaborate with the EHS Coordinator and Facilities Manager on incident reporting and training.
  • Perform ad-hoc assignments or additional duties as assigned by the Company.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources / Business Management or a related discipline; Master’s degree a plus
  • 10+ years of experience across all facets of Human Resources, with at least 5 years of experience at a senior HR leadership level
  • Excellent understanding of employment-related legislation and statutory requirements in the US (Canada a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with all levels within the Company
  • Proven track record in managing and executing HR projects
  • Strong organizational skills and follow through/ownership are critical
  • Experience in designing and leading compensation and performance management solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills
  • An innate desire to uncover, troubleshoot and resolve issues thoroughly and quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Experience in a multinational/global and/or manufacturing organization a plus
  • Willing to travel within the region, if needed

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Office, including Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook (minimum of intermediate level)
  • ADP Workforce Now experience preferred
  • Knowledge of performance management/learning & development systems are a plus
