Works under general supervision in providing clerical and receptionist duties for the surgery department.
Coordinates operative room scheduling and patient flow through the OR. Prepares various reports and maintains accurate records for various physicians and surgical procedures. Assists in record keeping for the OR including Data entry for billing and patients charges . Coordinates communications between IS and various hospital departments and physician offices. Communicates with IS regarding updates and problems with software.
Responsibilities:?Types minutes, memos, etc. accurately.
?Uses a variety of software programs to collect data and generate reports.
?Disseminates appropriate information to surgery schedulers.
?Maintains supplies and equipment for the surgery office, assuring proper level of stock and working order.
?Follows established hospital policies and procedures.
?Demonstrates knowledge of Rescue, Alarm, Confine, Extinguish, R.A.C.E. for fire safety.
?Can verbalize appropriate actions to take in the event of Code 66 (in house emergency), 99 (fire alarm activation), 101 (disaster plan), and 202 (tornado plan).
?Follows universal precautions.
?Captures and documents near misses in EMS.
?Reports incidents and other patient safety concerns promptly to director or supervisor and enters into EMS.
?Generates various reports, statistics, and files as needed.
?Demonstrates tact and diplomacy when handling difficult situations.
?Utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner.
?Works cooperatively with department director, supervisors, co-workers, physicians, and other hospital staff to resolve problems and assure quality and safe patient care.
?Accepts responsibility for own efforts to resolve customer service/satisfaction issues.
?Utilizes scripting and other developed approaches and efforts to improve department customer satisfaction.
?Records complaints, compliments or incidents in the EMS system.
Qualifications:Minimum Knowledge:
Work requires a knowledge of pathophysiology and the nursing process, nursing interventions, microbiology, and pharmacology. This is normally acquired through completion of a nursing curriculum at an accredited school of nursing and a current Indiana LPN licensure.
Minimum Experience:
Work requires the ability to read and write well enough to follow detailed procedures, ability to perform basic
mathematics, knowledge of office procedures and equipment, and ability to type. This level of education is
obtainable following high school graduation.
